i do not know ryan ray merencillo personally but i feel for him and to know that a friend of his wrote an account of what happened, it moved my heart. it’s not easy to have your life taken away just because they feel their blood curling when looking at you. i guess the 100% levy on alcohol will slash down the number of nonsense killings in Cebu. KILLING IS NOT COOL. AT ALL.

From 2 men randomly jumping on a group of friends for no apparent reason, a security guard running for his life, to someone getting shot. 

Ryan made it out alive after the incident but lost the battle to hang on to his life last April 1, 2012 due to toxins in his body. (More info on what happened that night, here)

I have to say this and forever hold my peace. Yes, I am probably one of the most difficult people in the world; even some of my family and friends can attest to that. There are ways and beliefs which I adhere to which not anyone can so easily influence. Some say I am a brat and all, but just what is your idea of a brat? or a mean person? Go ahead judge me for what you think I am without even knowing who I really am. I won’t say it’s your loss, I would just say you just lost your chance.

I know I do not owe anyone any explanation because everyone’s free to express what we want, but know this, I am exactly the opposite of what you think of me. I am writing this note for everyone and, more importantly myself, to convince me once again that I am worth more than what people of think of me. 

Not anyone who does not know me well has the right to judge my make and my ways. They never walked in my shoes nor walked with me through the whole nine yards as I was making a life for my own. These people do not have any idea of what I have been through and thus, I do not deserve any kind of disrespect or belittling from others. 

You have no right to tell me what I am and who I am, much less judge my upbringing. I have values I hold dear and a very strong support system to back me up. I do not need your words of wisdom, nor keen observation because in reality, what you see in me is not exactly what you get.

And respect begets respect. If you do not show respect towards me or any of family or peers, then expect me to have no respect for you. Even if I have no right to meddle in someone else’s affairs, I have every right to fight tooth and nail for people and things that are important to me: my life, my family, my friends and my job. That’s just how it goes.
